Students at Middle School South are involved in a "Penny War" to raise funds in support of Brundrett Middle School, a Port Aransas Independent School District school heavily impacted by Hurricane Harvey.

The goal of the effort is $5,000 - one penny at at time. BMSS assistant principals say the totals among the grades are starting to add up. If the goal is acheived, principal Georgia Franks as agreed to dress in a clown costume.

Students at Port Aransas ISD returned to class in mid-October, many of them in portable buildings. Brundett Middle School was substantially damaged and its timeline for full repair is not known.

That is why Middle School South students want to help.  While this is a student-driven project, contributions from outside are welcome and can be made at the school office.
